LUXTRIPLICATA
interactive light installation
JOHAN F. KÄLLMAN/ SWEDEN
Location 2

Källman's artistic practice is a mixture of light, color, sound and optics where
he brings all of these elements together in an attempt to make art more inclusive, accessible and playful. To Island of Lights 2023 the artist presents his interactive light-installation Luxtriplicata.

Luxtriplicata is an interactive light-installation that showcases when light, art and technology merge together to become something playful and inclusive. The installation gives the visitors a chance to experience and investigate the color spectra's and patterns that occur when white light refracts through glass prisms. The main idea of Luxtriplicata is that the visitors are allowed to touch the artwork. They can play and build with the prisms and spin the plate
to create the light art around themselves in 360°. In addition to the prism installation, the visitors also can explore how light actually sounds through an interactive piece that converts light waves into sound waves.

MAGMA
monumental projection
Location 6

Through the use of light and sound, Welsh Artist Ant Dickinson transforms
the rock face into magma, transporting the audience back to when it was formed deep within the Earth’s crust millions of years ago.

‘Magma’ is a site specific, multiple gobo projection artwork. Gobos are
an image projection method pre-dating moving image data projection
by around 100 years back to late 1800s. For this artwork, the cracks
of the rockface have been printed on to glass, another substance,
that in it’s natural form is created through the cooling of magma.
The piece is a window in time.
A constantly pulsating presence. The rock itself alive.

augmented reality and projection experience
JACOB FELLÄNDER/ SWEDEN
Location 9

What is a photography? The most common definitions is “one frozen moment”. When I first picked a camera I was obsessed with capturing
the perfect image. I wanted to understand every aspect of image-making in order to fully control the process like my masters and Ansel Adams and Robert Frank. But I quickly realized that the pursuit of perfection would leave me more frustrated than inspired. Luckily I had a great mentor at Flagler College who encouraged me to experiment with old beat up, pawnshop smelling cameras. Some of them over a hundred years old.
The first attempts were disastrous and the negatives turned out all black.
But after insane amount of hours in the dark room, strange but interesting things starters to appear. I realized that this way I could challenge and expand the very definition of image-making. By giving up perfection I could reach places I didn’t even know existed. My images evolved to be several moments, perspectives, places and dimensions, all at the same time. Augmented and virtual realities can now flow through time and space and transform into fashion, architecture and music.
Now now now.

Her characteristic ink art was projected onto the hull and painted by hand with toxic-free boat coating. We invite divers and anyone with a snorkel mask to experience the entire artwork at the Diving Center
